Testimonials

Read here why our members love our club!

Dan with Jack (4 yrs): “Since Jack is attending pre-school, his English got a real boost! Before it was only me speaking to him, now he knows there is a whole world out there speaking English too”

Beth with Matthias (4 yrs): Since my son’s world is mostly German-speaking, it’s nice to have the extra language support here locally. We love the extra events during the year too and we have made many lifelong friends through IKEC”

Dalia with Naila (3 yrs) and Mateo (5 yrs): “Being multicultural and having grown-up in several countries myself, I was looking for like-minded people in the Darmstadt area. Through IKEC, I have found good friends and a sense of belonging. I am committed to raising multi-lingual citizens of the world and with IKEC my kids both get exposure to English and an experience of the international community in Darmstadt.”

Linda with Liam (1):

“We love meeting up with other English speaking children in order to integrate the language into Liam’s life besides just speaking it at home. He gets excited to see his friends every week at the club where he can play, sing, and listen to stories. We’re looking forward to seeing what else the club has to offer once Liam will be old enough to attend the preschool and after-school classes!”

Baby and Toddler Group Afternoons

Currently our baby and toddler group is meeting at Amelia Cafe (If you are interested to join the group, please contact our group representative for more information: toddlergroup@ikec.de.

———————————————————————————————

Our group meets on Thursday afternoons and is run by our new group leader Róisín. We welcome parents and their children up to 3 years of age (and their older siblings)!

The focus of the group is to have fun whilst improving skills in areas such as language skills, hand-eye coordination, shape recognition and motor skills. We try to offer a structured environment and supportive atmosphere not only for group activities but also for when the children do things on their own. Naturally, due to the children’s age, we leave room to do as much of an activity as they like and parents are asked to help where their children need it.

Each session starts off with an informal play time where we dance, sing, work out or play other active games. We then do some form of – often seasonal – activity. For example, making Easter bunny nests or snowmen pictures, printing letter paper, making and painting salt-dough objects, threading beads and much more.

On nice days we might use the playground or take a walk into the nearby park to watch how the seasons change. After this activity has finished we have a little drink and a snack that parents are asked to bring along. Usually, we then listen to a story one of the parents reads to us and sing some of our favorite songs.

The group meets in Darmstadt at Amelia Cafe.

Anyone interested in stopping by should first contact the group rep to confirm when we will be meeting next.
